okay, this is a random story but I just thought of it. There was a story in the paper here about IKEA charging for plastic bags in an effort to get ppl to buy a reusable one--which they sell for 59 cents, plasticy, of course, but roomy and reusable.
the next day, a letter to the editor shows up in the paper that says "I don't want to have to go looking for my bag every time I go to IKEA. I don't go that often. So I wouldn't even get that much use out of the 59 cent bag."
I was puzzled and then it dawned on me that this individual had not yet stumbled upon the idea that they might use to bag someplace besides IKEA. I mean, just because you bought the bag at IKEA doesn't mean it only works there. Except elsewhere, they'll give you a bag for free. So uhhhh.
oh people. drive me crazy. and keep reminding me we've got a long long way to go.

Your post made me think of this post I saw recently: Whole Foods and Plastic Bags (showing the reusable bags packed in ... plastic bags).
LL--pathetic. But maybe they'd try to figure out how to stop it if they happen to read that blog!
