226/365: King of the fruit
When I visited Singapore as a teenager, I refused to eat the durian. They just smell so bad, although aficionados swear that they taste heavenly. I suppose that if I ever want to revisit the issue, I just need to walk back down to Chinatown again.
Today's visit to Chinatown was both fun and productive.

uuggghhh they smell awful! my husband lived for several years with his family in malaysia and he tried to get me to eat it exactly once but I refused even though we'd just started dating and I would have done most anything to impress him. yech.
What IS it??
i personally don't think they're all that. they're okay in an exotic fruit kinda way but not delicious. maybe it's an aquired taste?
I've never seen them before, but I can't say they look all that good. And if they smell bad too, then no way.
We bought one before but it honestly tasted as bad as it smelled... so I don't know what the hype is all about, that is, if there is hype.
